FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions | Fuller Smiles

Fuller Smiles is a multi-location dental group with spa-style practices across California and New York, led by Dr. Arsh and a team of experienced general, cosmetic, and pediatric dentists. What sets us apart is our complimentary Comfort Menu, modern low-radiation imaging, and a patient-first culture built around education, gentle technique, and zero-pressure treatment planning. We treat every age — from a child’s first cleaning to full-mouth dental implants.
We have offices throughout California, including two in Culver City (Venice Blvd and Bristol Pkwy), Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, two in Long Beach (Atlantic Ave and Ximeno Ave), Irvine, Huntington Park, Northridge, West Hills, Rialto, San Francisco, and San Jose, with Walnut Creek coming soon. Every location offers the same standard of care, equipment, and Comfort Menu.
Yes. Every Fuller Smiles office treats patients of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, with pediatric-trained dentists available for kids. We can schedule the whole family in back-to-back appointments at a single location to save you trips, and we accept most major dental PPO plans for both adult and pediatric coverage.
You can book an appointment in two ways: Book Appointment online, or send an email to your preferred location’s address (e.g., culvercity@fullersmiles.com . New patients should mention any insurance plan when booking so we can verify benefits before your visit.
Hours vary slightly by location, but most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at select locations. Several offices, including Culver City, also offer Saturday hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for emergency appointments.
Yes — we welcome walk-ins whenever possible, but same-day availability isn’t guaranteed because we reserve full one-hour appointment slots. We strongly recommend calling ahead, especially for cleanings or new-patient exams. For dental emergencies, call first so we can prep an exam room and shorten your wait.
We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged $100 per appointment because each slot is one full hour and difficult to refill last-minute. To reschedule, call your office directly — our front desk will find a new time that fits your week.
Fuller Smiles is in-network with most major dental PPO plans, including Aetna, MetLife, Cigna, Delta Dental, Guardian, and United Healthcare. We also accept many smaller PPOs and out-of-network plans with full benefit submission. Not sure if your plan is covered? Call us with your member ID or and we’ll verify benefits before your visit.
Yes. We offer interest-free in-house payment options on most major treatments, plus third-party financing through CareCredit for longer terms on cosmetic work, implants, and Invisalign. A treatment coordinator will walk you through every option in writing — no surprise charges.
You have two great options: take advantage of our (which often include a complimentary exam, X-rays, and laser whitening with your first cleaning), or join our in-house . The membership plan covers preventive care for a flat annual fee and gives you a sizeable discount on all other treatments — ideal for self-employed patients, retirees, and families without dental coverage.
With insurance, most patients pay $0 for a routine preventive cleaning since it’s covered at 100% by most PPO plans. Without insurance, our New Patient Special bundles the exam, X-rays, and a basic cleaning at a discounted rate, and our Membership Plan includes two cleanings per year. Call your nearest office for a current quote — pricing varies slightly by city.
Bring a photo ID (driver’s license preferred), your dental insurance card, and a list of any medications you take. If you’ve had recent dental X-rays elsewhere, bring those too — we can use them and save you radiation exposure. New patient forms can be completed online before your visit or in-office; whichever you prefer.
Your first visit takes about 60–90 minutes and includes a full set of digital low-radiation X-rays, a comprehensive oral cancer screening, gum-health charting, and a one-on-one consultation with your dentist to discuss any concerns. If your gums are healthy, we’ll often complete your cleaning the same day. You’ll leave with a written treatment plan and clear pricing — no high-pressure sales.
Yes. Consultations for Invisalign, veneers, dental implants, and full smile makeovers are complimentary at all California locations. We use digital smile-design tools to show you a preview of the result before any work begins.
Most adults should visit every six months for a checkup and professional cleaning. Patients with gum disease, a history of cavities, or who are pregnant may need three- or four-month intervals. Children should start visits by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears, per ADA guidelines.
Yes. Our offices use digital sensors that emit roughly 80–90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and we use lead aprons with thyroid collars for every patient. The amount of radiation from a full-mouth dental series is comparable to a few days of normal background radiation — far less than a single cross-country flight.
The Comfort Menu is a complimentary in-chair experience offered at every California location — think weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones with your music, aromatherapy, lip balm, sunglasses for our overhead lights, and beverages. It’s part of why patients describe a Fuller Smiles cleaning more like a spa visit than a typical dental appointment.
We offer three approaches: in-office laser whitening (results in about 60 minutes), professional take-home trays (gradual results over 7–14 days), and porcelain veneers for permanent change. New patients often receive complimentary laser whitening with their first cleaning — ask about the current promotion when you book.
Porcelain veneer pricing varies based on how many teeth you’re treating and the material (traditional porcelain vs. minimal-prep). We provide a written quote at your free cosmetic consultation, where we also show you a digital preview of your finished smile. Many patients finance veneers over 12–24 months interest-free.
With good care, porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years, and often longer. To maximize their lifespan: brush and floss daily, avoid biting hard objects (ice, fingernails, pens), wear a night guard if you grind your teeth, and keep your six-month cleanings. We use high-quality lab-fabricated porcelain that resists staining and chipping.
Smile design is a custom planning process where your dentist evaluates your facial proportions, lip line, gum line, tooth shape, and skin tone to design a smile that looks natural — not “done.” It can combine veneers, whitening, gum contouring, and Invisalign depending on your goals.
Yes — Invisalign is available at every California location. We’re experienced Invisalign providers and use 3D scanning (no goopy molds) to design your aligner sequence. Most cases finish in 6–18 months depending on complexity.
Invisalign is preferred by most adults and teens because the aligners are nearly invisible, removable for eating and brushing, and don’t irritate cheeks like brackets do. Traditional braces still have an edge for very complex bite cases. At your free consultation, we’ll tell you honestly whether Invisalign can achieve your goals or if braces would deliver a better result.
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons adult patients come to us. For mild-to-moderate relapse, Invisalign typically corrects it in 3–9 months. If you also want a brighter, more uniform look, porcelain veneers can straighten the appearance of teeth in 2–3 weeks. We’ll lay out both options at a free consultation.
No — most patients report less discomfort than a tooth extraction. We use local anesthesia and offer IV sedation for the procedure itself, and post-op soreness is typically managed with over-the-counter pain relievers for a day or two. Modern guided implant surgery is precise enough that recovery is much smoother than people expect.
With good oral hygiene and regular cleanings, dental implants can last a lifetime — they’re the most permanent tooth-replacement option available. The titanium post fuses to your jawbone (osseointegration), and the crown on top is typically replaced once every 15–20 years if needed.
Implants are usually the better long-term investment because they don’t require shaving down adjacent healthy teeth and they preserve jawbone. Bridges are faster and less expensive upfront but typically need replacement every 10–15 years. Your dentist will recommend the right choice based on your bone health, budget, and timeline.
A well-made dental crown lasts 10–15 years on average, and often 20+ with excellent care. Longevity depends on the material (zirconia and porcelain-fused-to-metal are most durable), your bite, and whether you grind your teeth. We design every crown to fit your bite precisely so chewing forces are distributed evenly.
Inlays and onlays are custom restorations that fall between a filling and a crown. Inlays repair damage inside the cusps (peaks) of a tooth, while onlays cover one or more cusps. Both preserve more of your natural tooth than a full crown and are typically lab-made from porcelain or composite for a precise, long-lasting fit.
Severe tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, a broken or cracked tooth, a lost crown or filling, swelling in the gums or face, and uncontrolled bleeding after an extraction all qualify as dental emergencies. If you’re unsure, call us — we’d rather have you come in and rule something out than wait and risk infection or permanent tooth loss.
Yes. Every California location reserves slots for same-day emergency care, and several offices (including Culver City) offer Saturday hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM specifically for urgent cases. Call the location nearest you the moment you know you need help — we’ll triage over the phone and prep a chair before you arrive.
Pick the tooth up by the crown (never the root), gently rinse with milk or saline if it’s dirty, and try to place it back in the socket. If that’s not possible, store it in milk or saliva and get to our office within 30–60 minutes for the best chance of saving it. Call ahead so we can be ready when you walk in.
Yes. IV sedation is available at select Fuller Smiles locations and is administered by trained, licensed providers with continuous vital-sign monitoring. It’s an excellent option for patients with dental anxiety, complex procedures (like multiple implants or wisdom teeth), or anyone who’d rather sleep through their appointment.
IV sedation is very safe when administered by trained dental professionals who continuously monitor your blood pressure, oxygen, and heart rate throughout the procedure. We tailor the sedation depth to each patient and conduct a thorough medical history review beforehand. You’ll need a friend or family member to drive you home afterward.
Beyond IV sedation, we offer nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), oral sedation pills, and our complimentary Comfort Menu (weighted blankets, headphones, aromatherapy) — often these alone are enough to make a routine visit easy. Tell your dentist about any anxiety at booking so we can plan the right combination.
The American Dental Association recommends a first dental visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth coming in. Early visits aren’t usually about cleanings — they’re about establishing comfort, catching developmental issues early, and giving parents guidance on bottles, pacifiers, and brushing habits.
Yes — every Fuller Smiles location offers pediatric services including baby-tooth exams, sealants, fluoride treatments, and gentle cleanings designed for young patients. Our team is trained to make kids feel safe, and we use kid-friendly language (no scary words like “shot” or “drill”) to keep visits positive.
We follow a two-step sterilization protocol: every instrument is thoroughly washed and air-dried, then run through a medical-grade autoclave that uses pressurized steam to kill all microorganisms. Treatment rooms are disinfected between every patient using CDC-recommended hospital-grade disinfectants, and we use UVC germicidal lamps on non-medical equipment.
Our offices use digital low-radiation X-rays, intraoral cameras (so you can see what your dentist sees), 3D iTero scanners for Invisalign and crowns (no impression goop), and CEREC same-day crown technology at select locations. Continuous training keeps our team current on the latest minimally invasive techniques.
